Winter Rainstorm and a Long Weekend

It started raining Thursday evening here followed by a phonecall from the school stating school would be starting two hours late.  Oh bliss!  I promply went upstairs and turned off all the alarm clocks, then first thing Friday morning as it is still raining, another phonecall came from the school, "School is cancelled today due to road conditions."  Well the boys were the first ones to venture out, finding how fast their sled would ZOOM down the hill in the backyard.  Quite some time later they came in dripping wet wondering if they can put their skates on and go skating in the yard.  Okay, I agreed, as I remember doing the same thing as a kid and it is so fun to skate wherever you want and as far as you can!  So out came dry snow gear and skates.  As the boys are getting ready, the girls decided that it looked like a great time.  Out came some more skates and snow gear.  I ended up tying skates for the entire day as they went in and out, getting wet and drying off.  Friday didn't end the skating adventure. Saturday and Sunday both included a few spins around the yard!

To be a kid!

Project 52: Week 2 ~ Getting Really Close

So here goes for week 2 of project 52. I love my bright living room and my 52 mm lens for this awesome lighting! I got some fun pictures of my preschoolers.  These are my favorites of each!

How can you tell it is winter with these dry noses!

This is my goofball!

 My five-year-old who has taken an interest in piano/music, so I am teaching him some basics.  He has mastered "Hot Cross Buns" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb"!

I am one of eight taking the challenge.  To view what Amber has this week see:

JLaulainen Family ~ Blogging with Photos ~ Northern Minnesota Family Photographer

I am going to admit that this next family (that I also photographed in November) was a little more of a challange.  With 10 children, oldest being 12, I knew it was going to be!  Still I had fun and it was a great learning experience.  With only about a half hour time frame to work with, I got {three} photos that I am satisfied with!

Thank you!  What a great bunch of kids!

Project 52: week1

I am joining some fellow bloggers in a photography challenge called Project 52 in an effort to keep my camera rolling with everyday pictures. Well the challenge started last week already, with Winter as the subject,  but I just joined in on Friday, "post day" of each week.  I felt like I wanted to start out fresh so I took the challenge Saturday and gathered 50 or so pictures of what winter was for us on that particular day! These are my favorites from Saturday:

This week Friday I will have the link(s) to the other photography challenge participants so stay posted!

JGrangroth Family ~ Blogging with Photos ~ Northern Minnesota Family Photographer

This family was so fun to work with!  Of course it is extra special when they are family
and live hundreds of miles away.  I got to photograph
them at the beginning of November.
{Dad, Mom and two little boys ~
a great place to start practicing!}

These boys love being on Grandpa's farm and were enjoying watching
someone working out in the field!

Thanks for the fun experience!!

S Family

 My first family shoot and it was lots of fun! These kids made it easy.  They all cooperated and just knew how to act in front of the camera...
{a combine drove by in the first picture here...and the boys' attention was diverted!}

I also did single shots of each child...

...and got separate group photos of the boys and the girls!
